Don't Kill Your Self Esteem By Giving Early High Expectation

بسم الله الرحمن الحيم

Don't believe it until you see by your own naked eyes. In these technology days, informations may come from everywhere that you don't even know. What happens from the most remote area of the world can be percieved by the media. Right statement can be twisted to a totally ridiculous one. Even sometimes you can't even believe what you see for it may be edited or disguised behind something. So horror.

What more dangerous is when we give early expectation before 100-percently sure what we are going to see. If it doesn't suit the actual state, it will tremendously throw away our self esteem. Should we come with nil expectation, no bias will be and everything is going to be fine. The seniors and people who have preceeded us are not always right. They may face different things. Indeed lessons need to be taken from the past experiences but also has to be balanced with nil expectation.

Sometimes things are just going wrong because we have too ideal goal from the time we have our first contact. At the end of the day, the goal never achieved.

Milestones in Life

We all have milestones in life. From the moment we got out of our mothers' womb, we already had out first milestone, which is moving from womb to world. From that moment onwards, we start crying, sitting, crawling, walking, running and speaking. Then, entering school, college and the list goes on. These milestones actually help us focus and play a role as a motivation for us to reach them. If none of these milestones existed, life would be dull and nonexiciting as we had nothing to look for in short time. However, they are not the end of the story. Instead, just footsteps to reach the final goal. For me as a muslim, my final goal is the hereafter. All of the things I might encounter in this world are not the ultimate goal. "Know that that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion.." (Al-Hadid:20). Knowing this fact is extremely important as to make us realise where to put things on its place accordingly. Believe me, those milestones will keep changing

Language Barrier?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم Being a medical student is really amusing. Getting know about human bodies is one of the best things I ever experience in life. No wonder Al-Imam As-Syafie claimed medicine as one of the most important branches of knowledge. In fact, advancement of medical care is always associated with better development of a country as it serves better quality of life. Medical practitioners deal directly with human being. They talk, communicate, touch, examine and even open human bodies. Communication is inevitable, it is a part of daily routines, so as improving communication is obliged for every medical practitioners especially doctors. A medical student who does not give reasonable effort to improve communication skills cannot be accepted. It is completely unethical to touch someone, especially involving private areas, when the patient is not feeling comfortable with the doctor. The patient has no choice that he needs to be examined but the doctor should make the pa

Final Year

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم New semester is going to start in two weeks. It is my final year of medical school in foreign land. To express the feeling, it is a mixture of happy and grief. Happy for being a step closer before having an MBBCh, grief for leaving this land soon. Having a glance at what has happened through these five years, it gives me so much memories, good and bad. The plan I sketched during my first year currently makes me astonished for I was being too ambitious. Yeah, you know first year is the time where everything seems possible to achieve. Now, it is final year. Too much things to do, too less time left. That is where the dilemma comes. Where do I need to focus on? If everyhing is done, nothing will be achieved. The fact that this might be the last chance for me being in a foreign land, I cannot waste my time doing things that will not add to my take home supply before going back for good. Finishing job is much harder than starting it.
